Project Description
The How YouTube Works website is a key point of information for government and policy officials. As the sole designer on this project, I worked across many different teams and executives to create a website fully catered to this audience.
Process
The How YouTube Works website is a highly trafficked public facing website for YouTube bringing key product information to users on different features, news, and updates of the company. The problem is that the website became a one-stop-shop for all things YouTube, which is not the goal of the website. The website at its highest point had 155 unique URL’s – making finding content difficult and overall navigation quite hard to use.
I led the audit of the current website, collaborating with the project stakeholders to bring a better more advantageous approach to the navigation items. The structure had to remain somewhat anchored within the constraints of the internal website builder. I think created moodboards to show how the visual language could look within the site. We tested a light and dark theme for brand attribution, and came up with a utilitarian design of the website with templates for agencies to build off of for any additional pages that may need to be created.
